 "Human poles" 

 Old Japanese believed in human powers. So much that they thought that the insertion of people in the walls and pillars would contribute to the victim to God and strengthen the strength of the building. Many buildings, including the infamous "Matsue" Castle and the bridge "Fukushima" contain human skeletons and visitors often report how they heard the screams of these captured spirits.
